It’s a fairly comprehensive software package that covers many features in the base product. It’s fairly easy to teach new users and users of other ERP systems.

Infor Visual Manufacturing has been a stable, reliable product for us for several years. It’s continually updated and improved, with an ear towards the user community through Regional User Groups. Support is quick and responsive, and it’s valuable to be able to communicate concerns and requests directly up to the Product Manager and Infor executives. The support site (inforxtreme.com) is useful for Knowledgebase searches and issue reporting.

When first starting out with Visual, it’s not always easy to recognize red flags in the system that should tell you stop and look into something, or to know what reports the system gives you that will help you see problems and fix user issues. Visual Manufacturing was like my first car. I loved it, I knew intimately how it worked inside and out and it did the job. Infor Visual as it is now called provides deep manufacturing capability, strong scheduling, fantastic material planning. There are add-on’s for cad-integration, bar-coding, quality, HR and more. It works with multiple manufacturing/financial companies and can be setup for all types of manufacturers (engineer to order, make to order, configure to order, even process manufacturers can use it).

The menus or toolbars that I need to use are less than intuitive. Why don’t they use standard Windows icons for “Close” and “Save” for example. And keyboard shortcuts are non-standard. Instead of CTRL-C for copy and CTRL-V for paste, I need to use CTRL-INSERT and SHIFT-INSERT. That forces me as a user to often do it wrong, then figure it out, then do it over. Sometimes I can use TAB and sometime it does nothing.

When generating forms for business and manufacturing operations Infor Visual ver 6.3.5 has a limited number of options. To change or add forms requires an unsupported editor. When the stock and custom options are depleted an outside programming module is required as well as programmers to develop the forms.
